The world isn't seen through rose colored glasses...

A thought...a ways back someone did me the disservice of ragging on me for being a government worker (she must of had some penned up anger about government or government employees and sought to make sure someone heard about her disfavor). Well, to propose a negative opinion about someone elses job, someone who helps people who can't help themselves, seems to have a self-centered approach to their situation. Striking out toward another person for how they live their life is beyond me...helping other people isn't. There's a good reason for the insurance system in the US...built to help people who don't have the means to adequately assist themselves and others...which is my role within the framework of government services to the public...insurance pays for the rehabilitation of the folks I work with

I've been through similar situations myself...but I also know that there are resources out there somewhere which are designed to help those who can't help themselves. The world is in an economic crisis, we discover this through the media, to lessen the pain of someone elses wrong choices is most likely why I'm here...to seek a resource for assisting me, not to enhance my lifestyle, but to seek assistance.

Modest Needs .org has a very enlightening way of putting it, "helping people in need to avoid the cycle of poverty." I don't want to experience this cycle. What disturbs me is being put nearer this cycle than is comfortable, due to some poor governmental decisions. Since we rely on the government to oversee our daily living, the recent atrocities show us some pretty disturbing proof that the government isn't doing what it's intended to do. So we're shoved into a role of looking elsewhere for something which will keep us living in the manner we've grown accustomed.

The scary part is that the world is seen for what it is...with all of the problems...yet the solutions to these problems sometimes often seem scary, also.

About Seans121

 in response to Curley...

Hi Curley-

Psychiatry is an interesting field to work in...because the residents I work with are really wonderful...yet they often fall off the world once in awhile (psychotics and paranoid schizophrenics have the luxury of going other places...albeit only in their heads). The chore on our side is to be sure nothing harmful is done while they're away. Even though there's the inevitable disappearance there's also the numerous roadblocks which occur in their thinking process...i.e. the old way of coping with the demands of the situation have evolved into something new and wonderful. It's nice to see the evolution take place, although it doesn't occur the next day, and takes time to do. The double wammy of mental illness and developmental disability often serves as a great stumbling block to progress, progression in developing new thought patterns.

My spiritual development seems to have hit a plateau as I get to see these folks on a daily basis. So I'm getting myself stuck in a rut along with them, yet I seek a sort of "re-structuring" of my beliefs, seeking to move in a different direction. Along with the rut is the idea that something exists out there which will help me more that working in the field of psychiatry...something less of a drain.

Don't Give Up The HOPE!

 in response to Curley...

Hi Curley-

I'm gonna try to draw a bridge from what I've experienced and what I term the Oedipus complex...the term was used as a reference to something I associate with, from my past (of course, the past doesn't necessarily predict the future) there was always a need to see what other people were doing in order to incorporate their approach to life with my own (as I've learned, not a very healthy approach toward living my own life). I grew up in a small town, so exposure to other people was limited so TV persuaded me in differing directions.

The "envy" idea came to fruition and led me astray from myself.

I work in the area of psychiatry now and I'm constantly in touch with those who've deluded them selves into believing one thing or another.

I agree with the idea that my spirit is reaching for me to get back to myself rather than pursuing some other unreachable goal.

It Is As Simple As This...

An interesting comment given in a recent showing of CNN news..."the Bush administration has compiled more national debt than the last 42 adminstrations combined."

Apparently Bush has problems in seeing/understanding who pays for his solutions...

Don't Give Up The HOPE!

 in response to Curley...

Hi Curley-

Last night I spoke with a friend about some things having to do with this issue we've been discussing lately. Some thoughts came out that were interesting to me, which always leads to a greater understanding of what is goimg on inside.

Remember the Oedipus complex from Psychology 101? Seems that whole idea was unconsciously making decisions about my will to move forward. The word "envy" came into play, plus the concept of wanting to be like the "father figure."

Strange but true, a new perspective evolves from this revelation.

I have recently explored the Oracle cards which have sparked a few thoughts helping me to discover the revelation spoken of earlier.

Onward to greater discoveries!

Don't Give Up The HOPE!

 in response to Curley...

Thank you Curley for your inspiring words...it's hard to not allow someone to be themselves, to say what they feel and let other people incorporate their own choices to accept or reject what is said...heck, sometimes throwing one's opinion is often a good thing--yet sometimes other people take it wrong and get upset and throw some defensive words out to justify their stance on what they think was said...seems the bottom line is that is what makes people unique...sometimes a little defensiveness allows one to sort out the true meaning of what was said...by the way, your words didn't offend. I'm curious about the meanings tossed out by the Tarot and the suggested relation to what is happening in my life...sometimes I do feel "blocked" about advancing into the Administrative level of my job area, yet doing so would take me away from the "human" interaction/problem solving arena

Hmmmmmmm...that's a tough one...it sounds good though...sorta like something dealt with in the day-to-day work situation...the saying seems to have some Humanistic roots, with a dab of Behavioral psychology thrown in for good measure...where does it come from?

Hi Curley-

You got my point about the tarot--it's helpful for some, not helpful for others...symbolism (as I see the Tarot's meaning and definitions) is difficult to decipher in any one person's life. It's the value of personal interpretation which gives it it's energy...

It Is As Simple As This...

Ya know...it's amusing how much money is spent on one man's idea (about Iraq) much to the neglect of those who need it most...development of the infrastructure would benefit the people of America much more than high gas prices...something quite similar happened in the 70's (reflecting on the Southeast and the people who line up to fill their cars with gas). So, what about the renewable energy issue and the reliance on foreign oil? What will it take for some important people to realize the necessity for keeping our resources for the future? Essentially a lot of finger pointing in Washington...it remains to be seen what will happen next...what will marblehead do to safeguard our economic future?

Grants To Purchase A Car?

Perhaps one could look into this resource for the necessary paperwork: The Grant Professor (apparently they have a .com web site). One day I received a CD from them which had a presentation of the process one needs to go through in order to appeal for a grant. Not all grants require this format, yet the individual receiving such knowledge will know just a bit more about the whole process.

Matthew Lesko has a site also (put his name in your search engine) which reveals a bunch of sites one can explore for something relevant to their situation. He also has a book about the government grant arena (which may or may not be as costly as a membership in his site). It seems that the book presents the same information in the book...

Don't Give Up The HOPE!

Hello Curly-

Just responding to a reply to your post/blog...learning the meaning behind the Tarot has many hopeful signs for each persons' stressing position. Being given a definition or keyword reflecting ones position aside from the subjective (or emotional) responses, is most helpful...

About sheshe030

Hello- In order to present a greater outline of what I'm looking for, the search is based on the idea that government monies seem to be given "after the fact." I know the government fairly well as I've been employed with the state of Colorado for nearly 18 years. There are many dollars put into a retirement fund, yet the monies cannot be accessed until after my employment is done. So, as stated in a previous message, having "operating" capital is what I seek...hence the personal grant pursuit. There are mechanical items within the house I own which will last for awhile, though when the time comes to repair or replace the items, I wish to be prepared for that time. Of course, the present economy doesn't allow for the saving of money as prices on most everything inflate as the days pass. Obtaining a grant for the purpose of lessening the financial blows presented by this economy and the eventual repair costs of certain necessary items is the basis of this message. Thank you, Sean

Aidpage group discussing "grant"...

 in response to sheshe030...

From what I've learned...the charities are the ones that give most of the personal grants, not so much the government. The idea behind receiving any monetary support from the government has to do with the "after the fact" sort of difficulties. The more I read about these government grants, the more knowledge I can share...

Aidpage group discussing "grant"...

Seeking to obtain a grant for home related expenses, mostly to do with weatherization and maintenance...also some possible personal grants to boost savings. The cost of living keeps going up and some "resources" would be appropriate...economic policies keep the economy in a swirl with hard times keeping us abreast of other possibilities for enhancing income...

Assistance is possible

Hello all-

A note for those of greater financial means and wisdom/insight for developing areas in need of development..Within the foothills of Denver, Colorado lies the community of Conifer. The main road which goes through this community is state highway 285.

Development of the are involve a medical center (a branch of the Rose medical center), a Safeway, A King Soopers, a Staples office supply, an Ace hardware and a few other shops alongside of each larger store.

The problem is this...along with the stores didn't come essential public services for bordering communities. Plumbing and heating services weren't added by the city of Conifer during the construction of said stores.

Perhaps financial assistance is the culprit in this case? With the present economic climate and the uncertainty of the financial system, perhaps there are those who have the means for improving the present living conditions of the residents of Conifer?

A resident of Conifer is reaching out to those who can grasp this opportunity and do the right thing...

 thank you,

Sean McCaffree

About Seans121

Hello-

My concerns are few, yet financial worries seem to crowd my mind. Personal savings are a worry, the cost of home improvement is a worry, the cost of bills infringe upon my income. My goals aren't of fame and fortune, I wish only to survive with the basics covered. I have a limited income, yet I've a full time job which will last for many years to come (I work for the State of Colorado, department of Institutions).

With the cost of living rising as we speak, making ends meet is a concern of mine. I don't have a perilous story of injury or illness and I've not fallen behind on my financial responsibilities, yet the cushion between current levels of savings, income and costs for living is growing thinner.

Perhaps there are those within the community who can offer a grant for a fellow American to live as one should...with the security that most Americans wish for, yet have an obstruction toward attaining (present economic climate included).

thank you,

Sean McCaffree
